CONVERSION
Bible: 2 Corinthians 12:14-21
I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls (V.15, NKJV).

When I used to travel abroad on holiday with my family, my dad would change money at the bank or the airport for the money of the country we’d be visiting. We’d do this so we could pay for anything while we were away from home.
When we become Christians, another kind of exchange takes place. Our lives are like money that we convert from one type to another. We exchange our old life for a new one so that we can begin living in a different way. Instead of living for ourselves and what seems good to us, we are able to start living for Jesus and His ways.
Paul is a good example of this difference. After his dramatic conversion on the way to Damascus (ACTS 9), he began spending his time in a totally different way. Instead of hunting down Christians to imprison and kill them, he began talking with non-Christians about Jesus, inviting them to join
God’s family. Then he spent the rest of his life for their good. He wrote to the church at Corinth, “I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls” (2 CORINTHIANS 12:15). Everything he did was to help others know Jesus better (VV.14,19).
Becoming a Christian is far more than just getting a ticket into heaven. It’s changing the way we spend each day of our lives.
To pray about . . .
Father, help me to spend my time on what will last, not on what will fade away one day. I give my life to You that I might spend and be spent sharing Jesus wherever I go. Amen.
TRUSTING JESUS TAKES ONLY A MOMENT—BECOMING MORE LIKE HIM TAKES A LIFETIME.
