A BETTER PLACE

A BETTER PLACE

Bible: Revelation 21:4-11

God himself will be with them and be their God (Revelation 21:3)

Reading

When Marci’s dad died, she struggled to get through her grief to the point that she would no longer do things that reminded her of him. One day her son asked her why she no longer made certain meals which had been family favourites for years. “It’s because they remind me of your grandpa, and that makes me sad. He really liked those meals.” Her boy answered, “But not more than heaven.”

That kid had the right idea. Heaven is a much better place than anything we experience on earth. Remembering this can help ease our sadness when things on earth trigger memories of Christian family or church friends who have passed away. We can remember that they are much happier because:

Heaven is a beautiful place. A “clear as crystal” river will flow from God’s throne (22:1), and God Himself will give heaven its light (22:5). Whilst nothing can take away the pain and sadness of losing friends and family, knowing that they are enjoying heaven is a comfort. It is a better place by far. JBS

Heaven is God’s home. God’s followers will enjoy being with Him forever (REVELATION 21:3-4).

Heaven is comfortable in every way. The people in heaven will never be sick or upset (21:4), hungry or thirsty (7:16).

What I’m thankful for . . .

Thank You, God, for the promise of heaven. Thank You that it is a better place. Thank You that it is also a certain place for everyone who trusts Jesus.

NOTHING CAN COMPARE TO WHAT LIFE WILL BE LIKE IN HEAVEN.
