White water rafting
Bible: 1 Chronicles 28:9-20
Reading
Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you (V.20).
I was enjoying the start of my first go at white-water rafting—until I heard the roar of the rapids up ahead. I suddenly felt very scared and insecure. Riding through those rough waters was brilliant and terrifying! And then, suddenly, it was over. The guide in the back of the raft had guided us
through. I was safe—at least until the next set of rapids. Changes in our lives are like those kinds of rapids. Starting a new school, becoming a prefect, moving house, joining a new club, seeing friends move away—there’s so many things that can change. And when they do, we can feel uncertain and worried. One of the biggest changes in the Old Testament happened to Solomon. He had to take on the role of king from David, his dad. I’m sure he was filled with ‘white-knuckle’ worries about the future. His dad’s advice? “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you” (1 CHRONICLES 28:20). You may or may not being going through changes right now. But one thing’s for sure, with God in your raft, you’re not alone when life gets rough and choppy. Keep your eyes on Him, the guide who will bring you through the rapids safely
GOD WILL GUIDE YOU THROUGH
THE RAPIDS OF CHANGE.
