A Change Inside

A Change Inside

Bible: 1 Timothy 1:1-7

Love … comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith (V.5).

I’ve had a few chats with friends who seemed interested in Jesus. Some of them even said they knew they needed to change. Some went so far as to say they were scared about the idea of going to hell. But then nothing ever seemed to come of it.

I think, each time, it came down to the same thing: they didn’t want to give their lives over to Jesus. They didn’t want that kind of change. Maybe they believed in God and some of the teaching in the Bible, but they still wanted to do things for themselves.

One person said that because they did good things and were basically kind, they had as good a chance as anyone of going to heaven. Paul told Timothy how to deal with people who focused only on ‘surface’ changes and doing things for themselves. He reminded him that the love God gives us comes “from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith” (1 TIM. 1:5). These are not things we can do for ourselves. We need change on the inside—the kind of change only God can bring. Has God changed you from the inside? You can have your whole life
changed by Jesus if you trust Him.

Thinking it over . . .

Where have you seen Jesus changing the way you act or think or spend your time? What other parts of your life do you want to change? Why not spend some time talking to Him about this today

WHEN GOD CHANGES YOU, HE WORKS FROM THE INSIDE OUT.
