A FULL LIFE

A FULL LIFE

Bible: Deuteronomy 8:7-18
Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place
of grace already given (JOHN 1:16).

What is the most valuable thing in your life? Is it a relationship? Something you own? Your Instagram profile? We all want to do well in life and feel happy with what we have. But is that where our satisfaction will actually come from?

Moses told the Israelites about the stuff they would enjoy in their new home in the land of Canaan before they entered it (DEUTERONOMY 8:7-9). They would have everything they needed and more. But he warned them of the danger of forgetting that God, the One who had brought them out of Egypt and protected them along the way, had given them everything (V.11). Moses
commanded them to “remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth” (V.18).

“Wealth”, of course, is not just stuff we own. It is anything we value; anything we couldn’t imagine having to live without. But everything we have is from God. Jesus told His friends, “I have come that [you] may have life, and have it to the full” (JOHN 10:10).

We too may be tempted to forget that it’s God who has given us all we have and has met our needs. Our lives will be full and satisfied only when we are connected to Jesus Christ.

Thinking it over . . .

How often do you thank God for the things you own and friends you’ve made? What’s the most valuable thing in your life? What do you think your life would look like if Jesus had first place?

NEVER LET GOD’S GIFTS MAKE YOU
FORGET THE GIVER.
