FIXATED
Bible: Proverbs 2:1-9
Seek [wisdom] as silver, and search for her as for hidden
treasures (Proverbs 2:4, NKJV).

When we really want something, it can take over our minds, daydreams and everything else. No matter what it is, from better grades to the latest smartphone, we can quickly get fixated on it.
Way back in the 10th century BC, Solomon said we should have that kind of need and fixation for something else—wisdom. The dictionary definition of wisdom, “understanding what is true, right or lasting”, sounds important if we want a life that pleases our perfect God.
Maybe that’s why Solomon gave so many instructions in Proverbs 2 to describe what it’s like to want God’s wisdom more than anything else. He said, “incline your ear”, “apply your heart”, “cry out”, “lift up your voice”, “seek her” and “search for her” (VV.2-4, NKJV).
Growing in wisdom takes effort, and the Bible tells us where it can be found: “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” He isn’t hiding wisdom away for Himself; “He stores up sound wisdom for the upright” (VV.6-7, NKJV).
Get to know God with everything you are. Put Him first. Knowing and loving Him is all the wisdom you’ll need for your life.
