A PERFECT FIT
Bible: Ephesians 2:1-10
Those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain
good works (TITUS 3:8, NKJV).
Reading
“What kind of skill set do you bring?” That interview question was meant to help decide if my friend would be a good fit for a job he was trying to get. My friend quickly went through a mental tick list of his skills and talents, hoping to find something that would make him look like the right
person for the job.
Do you ever feel like you always have to ‘fit in’? Whether at school, home, with friends or nearly anywhere else, there are certain rules and expectations you have to meet. Do you ever feel like you’re just pretending to be the perfect match for the situations you find yourself in?
What if we already were the perfect fit to do what God wants us to do? Well—as a matter of fact—we are! The gifts God has given us, along with our experiences, instincts, natural talents and willingness to trust Him, give us the skills needed for the “good works” that God has “prepared in
advance” (EPHESIANS 2:10). If God has something He wants to do with you or in your life, He will give you what you need. Or, as one paraphrase says, God wants us “to join Him in the work He does, the good work He has got ready for us to do” (EPHESIANS 2:10, THE MESSAGE). The one thing He asks of us is that we “be found faithful” (1 CORINTHIANS 4:2, NKJV).
Are you in a difficult situation or feel like God is telling you to do something hard? Trust Him, then you’ll have everything you need to “do good” and “be rich in good works” (1 TIMOTHY 6:18).
GOD’S GIFTS ARE MEANT TO BE USED, NOT HIDDEN AWAY.
