HELP NEEDED

Bible: Hebrews 4:9-16

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with
confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find
grace to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16).

Have you ever tried to go it alone in a difficult situation, only for things to get out of hand and leave you worse off than before? Sometimes independence is a great thing, but there are plenty of times when we wish there was someone on hand to help us out.

Life can be like that. Often, we are unable to face and beat the troubles we have to go through—we need help. As part of the church, that help can come at times from other Christians (ROMANS 12:10-13)—and that is a wonderful thing. Ultimately, however, we can always ask for help from our heavenly Father. The good and great news is that our God has invited us to come confidently before Him: “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (HEBREWS 4:16).

At such times, our greatest tool is prayer—we are given free access to talk to God about every problem and situation that is getting us down. There we find, in His mercy and love, the help we need.

Thinking it over . . .

God has given us His promise that He hears and answers every prayer. How often do you spend talking with God about what’s going on in your life?

DON’T LET PRAYER BE YOUR LAST THOUGHT IN
TIME OF NEED; MAKE IT YOUR FIRST.
