RUN TO THE CROSS
Bible: Hebrews 10:28-39
It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God
(Hebrews 10:31).

Have you ever been so stressed out you can’t even think straight? We all go through times like that, whether it’s because exams are coming up, we’re worried about something we’ve done wrong or a scary challenge is hanging over us.
If you’ve ever been worried like this, you know how hard it can be to switch off at night. You end up staring at the ceiling when you should be sleeping. The writer of Psalm 119 was no stranger to this. He wrote, “I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word” (V.147).
The Bible gave special comfort during the psalmist’s sleepless nights. Although he couldn’t make his problems go away, he said, “My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promises” (V.148). At night he read the Bible’s words over and over in his mind. He concentrated on the promises God makes in the Bible instead of focusing on his stress. This led him to say, “Oh, how I love Your law!” (V.97).
When worry wakes you up, remember, “The Word of God is living and powerful” (HEBREWS 4:12, NKJV). Select a passage and think it over. Our cares cannot compete with what God promises and teaches us in the Bible!
What I’m thankful for . . .
Thank You Jesus for the cross. It amazes me that You would die in my place to pay for everything I’ve ever done wrong. Thank You that You are my safety, now and forever. I run to the cross again today; there is no place I would rather be than with You.
TO ESCAPE THE AWFUL RESULT OF OUR SIN AND SELFISHNESS, RUN TO THE CROSS.
