GOOD ADVICE

Bible: 2 Peter 1:1-11

If you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will
keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your
knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:8)

What would you do if you won a million pounds? Fill your house with the latest gadgets, films and music? Get a swimming pool and tennis court installed? Buy a luxury holiday villa? How likely would you be to invest for the future? Spending money now sounds more fun, but investing (saving and increasing the money over time) is a far more secure long-term idea.

More importantly, God wants us to invest well in our future with Him. Through the ups and downs of life we should want to be increasing and growing our character (who we are with God). Peter tells us to be hardworking when it comes to our character growth (2 PETER 1:5-11). After we trust
in Jesus for salvation, we are to give priority to things like: our trust in God, our understanding of His ways, self-control, kindness and love.

The result of these things will be having God at the centre of everything we do (VV.5-7), living like Jesus (V.8), being part of God’s rescue mission (V.9) and seeing real, long-lasting change in our lives (V.10).

Investing money in savings accounts can be useful, but investing in who we are with God offers the best kind of results for the future!

To pray about . . .

Father, please help me to focus on what You are doing in my life and the changes You are making. I want to become more and more like Jesus every day, so that when anyone sees me, they will get to see something of You.

NOW IS THE TIME TO INVEST FOR FOREVER.
