A LONG AND WINDING PATH

Sometimes life seems like a long, steep path. There can seem no end to the problems, family arguments, school work, gossiping and issues that we face with our friends. When I feel really down, I like to remember that God knew this path, and everything I’d face on it, long before I was even born (PSALM 139:16). He has always known the difficulties I would experience and the pain that I could never explain to anyone else. He knows and is always with us.

What pain or sadness are you facing today? It may be the heavy expectation of your parents; the worry of family trouble; the pain of illness; or any number of other problems that come with life. “Surely,” you say, “God would not lead me here. There must be another, easier path for me to
take.”

But are any of us smart enough to be sure that some other way would make us into the people God wants us to be? No, our Father in heaven knows the best path, out of all possible ways, to bring us to know Him better and be more like Jesus (PSALM 142:3).

His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts (ISAIAH 55:9). We can humbly take the path He leads us along, and do so with total confidence in His perfect wisdom and love. He is wiser and more loving than we can ever know. He will not lead us the wrong way.

What I’m thankful for . . .

Thank You, Father, that whatever hard roads I have to walk along, You are here beside me and You promise to bring me through all the ups and downs.
