SEEING NEAR AND FAR
Bible: Psalm 145
The Lord is near to all who call on him (Psalm 145:18).

After I had surgery on one of my eyes for a torn retina, both eyes could see well but they refused to work together. One eye saw things far away and the other saw things close up. They seemed to fight each other whenever I tried to focus on anything. Until I was able to get a new pair of glasses three months later, my eyes struggled to see clearly.
Something similar happens in how we look at God. Some people focus better on God when they see Him as ‘close up’—when they think of Him as walking beside them in their daily life. Other Christians see God more clearly as ‘far away’ or far beyond anything we can imagine, ruling the universe in power and strength.
While people disagree about which view is best, the Bible works like a pair of glasses, helping us to see that both views are correct and work well together. King David writes about both in Psalm 145: “The L is near to all who call on him” (V.18) and “Great is the L and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom” (V.3).
Thankfully, God is near to hear our prayers, yet so far above us in power that He can meet our every need.
What I’m thankful for . . .
God, You’re high and mighty, holding the whole world in Your hands. Yet You also walk with me and know everything about me. Thank You
GOD IS BIG ENOUGH TO CARE FOR THE SMALLEST NEEDS.
