THE WAY TO AN ‘EASY’ LIFE
Bible: 1 Thessalonians 3
No one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you
yourselves know that we are appointed to this (1 Thessalonians 3.3, NKJV).

What is your goal in life? Many of us simply want to be happy—which doesn’t sound unreasonable, does it? We don’t want to go through pain or sadness or disappointment or loss. But then, who would? But that isn’t the world we live in.
Some Christians expect God to protect them from pain and disappointment, giving them good things and keeping them safe all the time. But that’s not the kind of Father He is. He lovingly allows His children to go through hard times (ISAIAH 43:2; 1 THESSALONIANS 3:3) so that their happiness will not be based on what we get out of this world, but on His unchanging love.
If we start with the mistaken belief that we’re in for an easy life, we will want to give up when it never seems to happen. But when we face the truth that life is difficult, we can focus on trusting God to look after us. That kind of life, centred on God and His love, strengthens us for the tough times.
God’s goal is to make us holy (more like He is), not just happy (1 THESSALONIANS 3:13). And when we are holy, we are more likely to be really happy and content.
To pray about . . .
Father, I don’t want to suffer in this world. But I know that You are with me when I do. I know I can rely on You even on my worst days. Please help me to keep my eyes focused on You rather than my problems.
A SATISFIED PERSON LEARNS TO TRUST GOD IN THE GOOD TIMES AND THE HARD TIMES.
