MISTAKES ARE GIFTS
Bible: John 21:15-19
Restore us to yourself, Lord, that we may return (LAMENTATIONS 5:21)

Everyone makes mistakes. Whether in big things or little things, we all mess up. It’s what we do about them that really makes the difference. Do we try to hide them, correct them or say sorry for them? One artist guy I know says, “Mistakes are gifts.” Whenever he’s working on a project and
something goes wrong, he doesn’t start over. He looks for a way to use the mistake to make it better.
When we get things wrong, God doesn’t throw us away and start over. He cleans us up and makes us better.
Peter often used to do and say whatever seemed best at the moment. He has been described as hot-headed and full of mistakes. He was really scared after Jesus was arrested, and so Peter said three times, that he didn’t know Jesus! Yet Jesus later turned Peter’s mess into a wonderful time of
learning and reconnecting (JOHN 21). Despite Peter’s mistakes in the past, Jesus brought him back, forgave him, helped him learn from the mistake and told him to look after God’s people with these words: “Feed My sheep” (V.17).
If you have made a mistake so big that it seems like your life is over in some way, the most important thing is whether you love Jesus or not. When we love Him, Jesus can turn our most serious messes into awesome opportunities to see His love and power at work.
To Pray about . . .
Father, I sometimes feel like I do such stupid things. And often I do things I know don’t please You. Please forgive me, change me and use me to make Your love known. Amen.
GOD CAN CHANGE OUR MESSES INTO SOMETHING AMAZING.
