RECALL NOTICE

Phone companies sometimes have to recall smartphones because of serious problems. It’s scary to think there could well be phones out there that could break in some very dangerous ways! But what’s more disturbing is that the people who buy the phones often aren’t bothered by the
warnings. One time, owners of a certain phone model with a serious fault were warned, “It’s a free repair. Get it done. It may save your life.” Yet, despite the risk to their own lives, most of the owners never got back to the company.

In the same way, many ignore God’s ‘recall notice’ to the entire human race. Unlike a fault found in phones, the fault in us is not God’s mistake. He made everything “very good” (GENESIS 1:31), but people’s selfishness ruined it. God’s offer to us is “repent [or, turn back] . . . so that your sins may be wiped out” (ACTS 3:19).

God doesn’t just offer a free repair of the human heart but a replacement for it (EZEKIEL 36:26; 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17). Though the offer costs us nothing (EPHESIANS 2:8-9), it cost God the life of His only Son, Jesus Christ. “‘[Jesus] himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.’” (1 PETER 2:24).

Don’t ignore God’s offer. The free and permanent cure offered by God will save your life!

What I’m thankful for . . .

Father, thank You for sending Jesus to die in my place. I don’t want to ignore His sacrifice or the new life He offers. I want that new start with You. Only You can make me brand new.
