TAKE NOTICE
Bible: Ruth 2:13-20
Blessed be the man who took notice of you! (Ruth 2:19).

While I was waiting to pay in a shop, I was trying to quickly work out how much my shopping would cost. I hardly noticed when the person ahead of me shuffled towards the exit, leaving all of their stuff behind, without enough money to pay for them. I felt terrible; if only I had been aware of them, I would have helped them. It can be so easy to get caught up in our own world that we miss out on noticing the people around us.
In the book of Ruth, Boaz became aware of Ruth’s problems when he saw her collecting grain in his fields (RUTH 2:5). He learned that she was recently widowed and was providing for herself and her mother-in-law. Boaz saw her need for protection, and warned his workers to leave her alone (V.9). He gave her extra food by telling his men to let some grain fall to the ground so she could pick it up (V.16). Boaz even comforted her (VV.11-12). When Naomi heard about this, she said, “Blessed be the man who took notice of you!” (V.19).
Are you aware of the needs of your friends? What about the people in your class, youth group or even your family? How might you help someone out today? Then you will be fulfilling God’s plan for you (GALATIANS 6:2; EPHESIANS 2:10).

Help me God, to notice the hurting people around me. I want to show people the generosity and kindness of Your amazing love.
