ONE

Do you ever feel like you’re meant to be bringing everyone in your class to Jesus and transforming your entire school? Don’t get me wrong, if God gives us the opportunity to make big changes like that—let’s do it! But more often than not God gives us opportunities to talk about Jesus with individuals, rather than crowds.

Jesus taught crowds, fed thousands by the Sea of Galilee and was followed by huge numbers of people—yet many of the stories in the gospels are about Him connecting with and looking after individuals, one at a time. I find it really encouraging that Jesus was never ‘too big’ to take time out for just one person. Like His conversation with one religious leader called Nicodemus (JOHN 3); His visit with one adulterous woman at a well in Samaria (JOHN 4); and His attention for one greedy, little man called Zaccheus, who was sitting up in a sycamore tree (LUKE 19). How amazed he must have been when Jesus singled him out and said, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today” (V.5).

In Luke 15, Jesus told the parables of a shepherd and a woman who went searching for the one sheep and coin they had each lost. The stories of Luke 15 show our Father’s perspective: every single person is vitally important to Him.

If you are ever feel like you’re not sharing Jesus with enough people, remember Jesus’ example and the stories He taught. There is rejoicing in heaven over each individual who trusts Him. So let’s keep focused on the individuals (or individual) we know who God is giving us opportunities to speak with.

Thank You, Father, that every person is important to You. Thank You that I don’t need to transform the world; I am part of Your rescue mission when I simply share Jesus whenever I have opportunities.
