Nothing but the truth

Nothing but the truth

Bible:Proverbs 12:17-22

The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy (V.22).

Reading

I came across some unusual and funny reasons people gave to their insurance companies when explaining car accidents they had been in: “An invisible car came out of nowhere, hit my car and vanished.” “I had been driving my car for forty years when I fell asleep at the wheel and
had the accident.” “The pedestrian had no idea which direction to go, so I ran him over.”
“The telephone pole was approaching fast. I attempted to swerve out of its path when it hit my front end.” “The guy was all over the road. I had to swerve a number of times before I
hit him.” “The reason for this accident was a little guy in a small car with a big mouth.” These ‘excuses’ might bring a smile to your face today, and some were probably meant to. But they also remind us of how quick we are to dodge the blame and come up with excuses, especially when it can get us out of trouble. The book of Proverbs tells us: “The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy” (PROVERBS 12:22). Why? Because being honest,
even when we’ve made a mess of things, shows we’re trusting in God to bring us through the situation. Lies are just another way for us to try and save ourselves. But we belong to Jesus now, who is our Saviour in everything. So let’s be careful to stick to the truth—and trust ourselves to God!

HONESTY IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF
OUR RELIANCE ON GOD.
