Hiding Place
Bible:Psalm 34:4-8
Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him (V.8).

In this world of storms and stress, there is only one safe shelter: God Himself.
“He shields all who take refuge in Him” (PSALM 18:30). The phrase “to take refuge in” is another way of saying “to hide in” or “to hide with”. It suggests a secret place where we can’t be found or attacked. When we’re worn out by trying to get by in our own strength, when we’re confused by our problems, when we’re left out by our friends, when we’re bullied by our class, we can hide ourselves in God. There is no safety in this world that even comes close to being with Him. If we were to find our security in our popularity, our grades, our health or our family life, we’d never know true peace and safety. What would happen when these things change or let us down? But God’s love and protection never changes, never fails, never forgets us and never gets beaten. He gives us the peace, happiness and security we were made for. The only safe place is God Himself. When storm clouds gather and everything seems to be going wrong, we must run to Him in prayer and take our time there (PSALM 57:1). One Christian once said, “That person is perfect in faith who can come to God in their utter misery . . . and honestly say to Him, ‘You alone are my
refuge.’” How safe and secure we are!
