Eighteen-year-old Emma talks about Jesus on social media, even though trolls have humiliated her with angry and rude posts because of her love for Him. Some also simply attack her about how she looks. Others say she must be stupid because she believes in God. Even though the hateful words upset her, Emma continues to share the good news about Jesus with confidence, because she knows He can use her social media to impact lives in the best way possible. Sometimes, though, she’s tempted to believe her identity and worth are affected by the posts she reads. If people don’t like her, she feels like more of a failure than when people thank her for what she shares. When that happens, she asks God for help remembering that she is His child no matter what. Nothing can change that identity she has been given as an heir to God’s kingdom—with every right to it (EPHESIANS 1:13-14). So she prays for the people attacking her, thinks about the promises God gives in the Bible, and keeps on using her social media for Jesus. Gideon faced a scary enemy—the Midianites (JUDGES 6:1-10). Though God called him a “mighty warrior”, Gideon struggled to let go of his doubt and insecurities (VV.11-15). More than once he questioned God’s plans and his own ability. But finally he chose to trust what God said. When we trust God, we can live like we believe what He says about us is true. Even when others make us doubt our identity, our loving Father reminds us we are His children through the Bible and His Spirit in us (GALATIANS 4:6).

When we trust God, we can live like we
believe what He says about us is true.
