Beautiful to God
Bible:Psalm 8:4-9
What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? (V.4).

When Denise began dating her boyfriend, she tried to make herself look as good as possible: keeping herself slim, wearing fashionable clothes outside of school, experimenting with different make-up. She believed she would be more attractive to him if she did those things. After all, it was what all the online blogs said you should do. It was only much later that she found out what he really thought: “I liked you just as much when you chilled out about how you looked and you didn’t worry about what you wore.” Denise realised then how subjective beauty is. Our view of beauty is so easily influenced by others. It’s often all about how we look, forgetting the value of who we really are. But God sees us in only one way—as His beautiful, loved children. I like to remember that when God created the world, He left the best for last—us! Everything He created was good, but we’re extra special because we’re made in the image of God (GENESIS 1:27). God thinks we’re beautiful! “What is mankind,” one of the psalm-writers asked, “that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?” (PSALM 8:4). Yet God chose to give us a special place in His world that nothing else has (V.5). This should give us great reason to praise Him (V.9). No matter what others think of us—or what we think of ourselves—know this: we are beautiful to God.
