Out of the pit
Bible:Psalm 40
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him (V.3).

When King David looked back on his life, he remembered many painful things and lots of times that he’d messed up. In Psalm 40, he thought about one particular situation, a time when he felt as if he had sunk deep into “the slimy pit” (PSALM 40:2). In his helplessness David had kept asking God for rescue. God faithfully provided for him, lifting him out of the “mud and mire” and setting his feet on “a rock” (V.2). Thinking about the ways God had rescued him, David broke out into this hymn of praise and thanks! Do you find yourself stuck in a pit? Did you fall out with a friend? Mess up big time with your parents? Get found out? Are you feeling lost in anger, guilt or depression? Keep asking God for rescue. And more than that, expect him to “put a new song in [your] mouth, a hymn of praise to our God” (V.3). All His works in our lives are good and worth praising. When we give our attention to Him, as David did, we will remember that nothing compares with our awesome God (V.5). As our friends and family see God provide for us, time and again, may they “see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him” (V.3).
GOD NEVER LEAVES HIS CHILDREN IN THE PIT.
