He is not here
Bible:Luke 24:1-18
He is not here; he has risen! (V.6).

As I bent down to enter the small opening of the Garden Tomb outside the old city walls in Jerusalem, I could imagine how several of Jesus’ female disciples felt early on the Sunday morning following Jesus’ death. They had come to prepare Jesus’ crucified body for burial. As I looked at the empty ledge in the tomb, I could envision the women’s confusion. As their eyes
adjusted to the dim light, slowly the reality would dawn on them that there was no body or stink of death—just empty strips of linen. Turning to exit the burial room, my eyes were immediately drawn to the words “He is not here; he has risen!” (LUKE 24:6) written on the wall. Those simple
but life-changing words were announced to the women by two angels whose dramatic appearance terrified the already confused and grieving women. But even in their confusion, the angels reminded them of Jesus’ own words that He“must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again” (V.7). “Then they remembered his words” (V.8). For the women, the empty tomb proved all of Jesus’ claims, turning their sadness into rejoicing as they realised all they had believed was actually true. For us, the empty tomb also gives us confidence about our unending life with our risen Saviour. It is proof that we can live a new life now with Him and in His power (ROMANS 6:5-10).
