Not much to offer

Not much to offer

Bible:Genesis 6:9-18

[Noah] walked faithfully with God (V.9).

An app development company hired me after I finished school, even though I couldn’t write a single line of code. I learned that the company didn’t place high value on work experience. Things like problem solving, good judgement and teamwork were more important. The company said new staff could be trained for the job as long as they were the right kind of people. God was “deeply troubled” as He “saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become” since Adam and Eve first got things wrong (GENESIS 6:5-6). So God wiped the earth clean with a great flood, saying: “I am going to put an end to all people” (V.13). Yet Noah stood out because “he walked faithfully with God” (V.9). Noah did not let himself become like the world around him, who ignored God and did whatever they wanted. He trusted God and followed His ways. And so God rescued him and his family, telling Noah to build a boat to hide in during the coming flood. Noah was most probably a farmer, not a ship builder. Yet “Noah did everything just as God commanded him” (V.22). When God asks us to do things, or gives us opportunities to stand up for Him, we may not have the right ‘work experience’. Thankfully, God is not limited by our skill set. He simply asks that we love and trust Him. As God’s Spirit grows this attitude in us, we will realise He can use us in big or small ways—because the strength and the result always comes from Him!

WE NEVER HAVE MUCH TO OFFER GOD
—SO WE JUST HAVE TO TRUST HIM!
