Chatty Bus
Bible:Colossians 4:2-6
Let your conversation be always full of grace (V.6).

A bus company recently launched a new project called, “Chatty Bus”! It’s been a big success. The idea is that a Chatty Bus has people on board willing to talk with passengers who just fancy a chat. Chatty Buses are in response to the upsetting stat that nearly 30% of people in the UK go at least one day a week without a meaningful conversation. Many of us have experienced the loneliness that comes from not having someone to talk to. Whether we’re stood in the corner on our own at a party, or all our friends are busy and we have nothing to do. Connecting with others is an important and powerful experience; and a good conversation can be lifechanging. As I think about some of the important conversations in my life, I’m especially reminded of discussions that were full of God’s love and generosity. I cannot begin to describe the impact they’ve had on my life. At the end of his letter to the Colossian church, Paul encouraged his readers to have the kind of conversations that would show God’s love. He wrote, “Let your conversation be always full of grace” (COLOSSIANS 4:6), reminding his readers that it is not simply the amount of words but the quality of those words—“full of grace”—that bring true encouragement to others. The next time you see someone who’s on their own, or if you feel lonely, try to connect with someone with a conversation that’s “full of grace”. And whenever we’re hanging out with friends or youth group or anyone else, let’s look for ways to have a conversation that has lasting value.
