Where are you?

Where are you?

Bible:Deuteronomy 31:1-8

Reading

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you
nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged (V.8).

The girl, panicking, called her dad. She needed him to be home by 6:00 p.m. to drive her to music practice on time. “Dad! Where are you?” “I’m here. Just pulling up on the drive. Why don’t you trust me?” I wonder how often could our heavenly Father ask that of us? Why don’t you trust me? In stressful moments, I too am impatient. I too struggle to trust, to believe God will keep His promises. So I shout out: “Where are you?” In stress and uncertainty, I sometimes doubt that God is right here with me. I struggle to remember that He is good, will never leave me, and has a plan for my life. The Israelites were the same. In Deuteronomy 31, they were preparing to enter the Promised Land, knowing their leader, Moses, would stay behind. Moses reassured God’s people by reminding them, “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged” (DEUTERONOMY 31:8). That promise—that God is always with us—is a core part of our relationship with Him (SEE MATTHEW 1:23; HEBREWS 13:5). And Revelation 21:3 promises this is our future too: “God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them.” Where is God? He is right here, right now, right with us—always ready to hear our prayers.

GOD IS ALWAYS WITH US, ALWAYS PRESENT,
ALWAYS AVAILABLE.
