Losing to gain

Losing to gain

Bible:2 Corinthians 9:6-15

Reading

God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all
that you need, you will abound in every good work (V.8).

The fields on my dad’s farm were sowed by hand. That meant he would strap on a canvas bag that looked like a kangaroo pouch, fill it with seeds and go out to sow. He would throw the seeds everywhere on that field. When he did this, it looked like he was throwing the seeds away. They seemed to be lost, but they weren’t really gone. After some time had passed, he got those seeds back, as fruit or grain. When we give ourselves to Jesus, it may look to our friends and family as if we’re throwing our lives away. But He said that it is only as we lose our lives in Him that we find true life (MATTHEW 10:39). Jesus teaches us to measure our lives by what we lose, rather than by what we get; by sacrifices rather than awards; by time spent for others rather than time for ourselves; by the love we give rather than the attention we get. t’s a rule of life: God gives us everything we need. So we can be people who give and serve (2 CORINTHIANS. 9:6). We know that God will never leave us empty. The question is, Do we trust Him enough to be generous? Are we prepared to rely on Him more than ourselves? It’s a learning process for sure! But from it, “others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ” (V.13).
