On our side
Bible:Romans 8:31-39

What, then, shall we say in response to these things?
If God is for us, who can be against us? (V.31)
A Christian guy was working at his first job—a weekend shift at a warehouse— earning some money as his school life was coming to an end and he had to work out what to do next. The people he worked with were pretty rough, and he was laughed at for being a Christian. They threw jokes and abuse at him during every break. One break time was worse than the others. They were laughing at him, swearing and making fun of Jesus. He was just about ready to quit. Then an older guy sitting at the back of the room said, “That’s enough! Find someone else to pick on.” They immediately backed off. Later the man said to the teenager, “I saw that you were having a difficult time, and I wanted to let you know I’m on your side.” Maybe you’re a Christian and standing alone against others in your school or family who don’t know God. Maybe it feels like things are only getting worse. We can definitely tell our church family about how hard things are and expect them to support us and stand with us. But even more than that, we can be confident that God is on our side. He showed His commitment and love to us when He sent His Son Jesus to die in our place on the cross. We can never be separated from His love and care (ROMANS 8:38-39). With confidence we can say, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (V.31).
