Dive in!

Bible: Ephesians 3:14-21

Reading

[He] is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to his power that is at work within us (V.20).

“Dive in!” she said.
I was wondering about whether I should try something new (which I hate doing). But my friend was clear: “It’s only when we take real risks that we discover who we really are.” She wasn’t talking about our relationship with God, but I think her advice works there too. When we are filled with doubts, stress and hesitations, we can find ourselves unable to move forward. But God invites us to trust Him in this journey. And as we say yes to His invitation, He promises His power will be shown in and through our lives. Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3 explores that idea more. He writes, “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith” (VV.16-17). His prayer ends by describing our heavenly Father as one “who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” (V.20). In other words, when we ‘dive in’ with God, no matter what we’re facing, we will find Him to be faithful, powerful and able to lead us through it all. And He will always do more than we ever imagined!
