GOD IS LOVE. 1 JOHN 4:8
Emma doesn’t feel loved by God. She trusted Jesus as her Saviour a couple of years ago and is confident that she is forgiven and will live in heaven with Him. She believes what God says in the Bible—but she would also like to feel loved. Her friends give her what she thinks is a bit of a half hearted answer: “It’s not about feelings! Just trust God and the feelings will come later.” She says, “But when is later?” God created us in His image to have emotions, so the need to feel loved is right and good. One way that many of us sense we’re loved is when someone talks with us and listens to us.
God gives us those things in our relationship with Him too. He speaks through the Bible to “the thoughts and attitudes of [our] heart” (HEBREWS 4:12). And He wants us to talk to Him about everything we’re going through (PSALM 62:8)—even our need to feel His love. Besides a relationship with Him, He gives us our clothing, food, friends, abilities, homes, breath and everything else. We can find Him to be our “rock”, “fortress” and “refuge” as we trust Him (VV.2,7). God loves us. Now, we have to trust Him while we can’t see Him. But one day, when we’re right there with Him in His home, we’ll never again have any reason to doubt His love
