Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law (V.18).

People use the Our Daily Bread Youth Editions in many different ways. Youth groups meet to read it together each week. Some are handed out at youth summer camps. Others are simply read by individuals, sat in their bedrooms, like you might be. A message from one reader really encouraged me as she shared her routine each morning: “As I open Our Daily Bread, I tell God that I am excited about what the Bible is going to teach me. Then I read the passage (if it’s short, I include all the verses around it), and I think about it and write what it is saying to me before I read the article in the booklet itself . . . I write all about what I learn in my diary. I index each day by Bible passage and topic as I go along so I can go back to key messages at any time. I love it.” What impressed me is her enthusiasm for the Bible and her excitement at what God has to say to her. She echoes the psalmist’s prayer: “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law” (PSALM 119:18). I hope these reflections in your Youth Edition are helpful—but they are nothing compared to what the Bible actually says. That’s the only place to find what you need for each day. And that’s exciting!
