Respecting life
Bible: Psalm 139
Reading
You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s
womb (V.14).
In Psalm 139, David describes God as “[knitting]” his tiny body together in his mum’s womb (PSALM 139:14). God loved David before he even existed. God designed the person David was to be, and He made that person according to His plan. Like writing a story, God already knew what David was going to do, who he was going to be and how he would fit into the big picture (V.16). And David understood how important and valuable he was to God: “How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand” (VV.17-18). What was true of David is true of you. You are special—a planned, purposebuilt creation of God. And He thinks about you all the time and has written a plan out for your life too. Every single person is a unique and important work of God—made by His own hand. The weird kids in class, the annoying people at church, even your brothers and sisters—God thinks about all of them all the time too. They are so important to Him. How important are they to us? Who do we ignore? We are all “fearfully and wonderfully made” (V.14). So let’s give people the respect they deserve.

Great post. Earned a subscriber. The fact that God is just and will chastise people for harming others is the evidence that we have value to him. Imagine someone hurting a child and the judge doing nothing about it. That would prove that the judge doesn’t care about the child. God punishes because he cares about everyone. And as a result we should as well. Blessings
