We know where we’re going

We know where we’re going

Bible: Philippians 1:19-26

Reading

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain (V.21).

Dr. William Wallace was working as a surgeon in Wuzhou, China, in the 1940s when Japan attacked China. Wallace, who was in charge of Stout Memorial Hospital at the time, loaded his equipment on a large boat. He continued to work as the makeshift ‘hospital’ floated up and down rivers to avoid enemy attacks. During dangerous times, Philippians 1:21—one of Wallace’s favourite verses—reminded him that if he lived, he had work to do for Jesus. But if he died, he had the promise of living in Jesus’ home forever. The verse took on special meaning when he died while imprisoned on false charges in 1951.
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain” (PHILIPPIANS 1:21) is a big and powerful truth for us to take hold of today. It means we can face any problems, people, issues or illnesses with confidence. With the Holy Spirit and the prayers of other Christians (V.19), we can be brave, knowing Jesus is in control of all our situations. And it gives us a wonderful promise that
when our life and work end here, we still have heaven to look forward to. We know where we’re going! In our hardest moments, we can keep our eyes and focus fixed on Jesus, asking Him to lead us through—all the way to His home, step by step. Let’s pray that as we walk with Him, others will take notice and see that we live looking forward to our “gain”.

JESUS WALKS WITH US EVERY STEP
