God’s Battle

God’s Battle

Bible: 2 Chronicles 20:4-15

Reading

The battle is not yours, but God’s (V.15).

I remember a problem in our family made my mum fast and pray for what she thought would be a good outcome. She was hurt when God didn’t answer her prayer the way she’d hoped. But, in the end, what God did was even better. In 2 Chronicles 20, we learn of King Jehoshaphat, who was scared and worried because a massive army was coming to fight him. He told everyone in Judah “to seek help from the Lord” (2 CHRONICLES 20:3-4). Jehoshaphat stood in “the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem” and prayed, reminding God of His power, what He had done in the past and His promise to save them (VV.5-9). He explained his situation to God (VV.10-11), and then handed it all to Him saying, “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you” (V.12). Shortly after, God’s Spirit spoke through one of the men who said, “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s” (VV.14-15). It can be difficult to trust that God is in control of our lives; and we can make ourselves sick trying to fight battles that we’re meant to give to Him. Let’s hand those battles to God, give Him control and let Him fight for us (VV.29-30).

GOD FIGHTS FOR US.
