Bible: Joshua 2 : 1 – 14
Reading
When we heard of it, our hearts sank and everyone’s courage failed because of you,
for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below (V.11).
Did you ever wonder why Rahab, the prostitute who lived in the godless city of Jericho, opened her home to the Israelite spies? And what gave her the bravery to call the God of Israel her own? She turned to God because of the stories she had heard about His power.
Though living in a city that wanted nothing to do with God, she couldn’t help being drawn to Him. As she told the spies, “We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites” (JOSHUA 2:10). Normally, the highly fortified city of Jericho would have been able to stand against any attack. Yet it became weak because of the stories of God’s power. Long before God’s people arrived, the pride of this city turned to fear as they heard that God and His people were heading their way (V.11).
And within the walls, one person turned to the God of Israel and played a big part in Israel’s victory. Let’s bravely tell the stories of God’s greatness. You never know who might be ready to turn to God!
TELL THE STORIES OF GOD’S GREATNESS.
