Ambassadors

Bible: 2 Corinthians 5:14-21

Reading

He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s
ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us (VV.19-20).

After visiting a homeless shelter, a group of teenagers couldn’t wait to talkvabout it. Excitedly, they shared with the whole church about the men and women they had met. One teenager shared: “I talked with an ex-vet and told him that in heaven he would have a new body. I was able to encourage him to trust Jesus.” Another said, “A guy named Michael showed me that even though he was living in a homeless shelter, trusting Jesus made all the difference.” Still another told me: “I talked with a man who had almost stopped believing in God. I tried to encourage him to keep going.” That youth group went into the homeless shelter to share Jesus, but
they were surprised to find people there who already knew God. By ignoring their differences, the group met people who needed to be reminded that God still cared for them. Instead of just sharing the good news, they ended up guiding their new friends in their walk with Jesus. Being “Christ’s ambassadors”, or His representatives (2 CORINTHIANS 5:20), means sharing the gospel and caring for those who are struggling—just as He did. Look out for someone today who needs help or “the message of reconciliation” (V.19).
