Life Hacks

Bible: Proverbs 1 : 1-7

Reading

For gaining wisdom and instruction, for understanding words of insight (V.2).

Life hacks are shortcuts for doing everyday stuff. Like making airconditioning out of a fan and frozen bottles of water; stopping ads while playing games on your phone with flight mode; using a hair straightener to iron your collar; and fixing scratches on LCD screens with pencil rubbers!

But there are no life hacks for living in a way that pleases God. Still, the Bible gives us lots of good guidance. The truths of the Bible, inspired by the Holy Spirit, can help us better understand how to please God and grow in our relationship with Him as we rely on the Spirit to guide us.

Here’s just a few helpful thoughts from Proverbs: “Those who guard their lips preserve their lives” (PROVERBS 13:3); “Walk with the wise and become wise” (13:20); “A gentle answer turns away wrath” (15:1);“A cheerful heart is good medicine” (17:22); “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord” (19:17).

Behind all of the wise advice given in Proverbs is this major principle: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (1:7). Out of awe and respect for our heavenly Father, may we live in His love and wisdom—letting
our relationship with Him be the foundation of everything we do. And as the Holy Spirit helps us live out the direction of the Bible, may we learn to walk closely with God.

THERE ARE NO LIFE HACKS FOR

WALKING WITH JESUS.
