No Big Deal

No Big Deal

Bible: Galatians 6 : 7-9

Reading

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows (V.7).

It seemed like no big deal at the time. I had just come home from school and told my mum that I was going to a friend’s house to play football. She told me to stay home and do my homework first. Instead, I slipped out the back door and spent the next two hours making tackles and scoring goals in my friend’s garden.

But then I was tackled hard. I fell face first into the ground and knocked out my front tooth. It hurt like crazy, but not as badly as telling my parents.

That choice led to several years of dental problems, and tooth pain that still bothers me occasionally. I remember hearing someone once say, “Some mistakes you never stop paying for.”

Centuries earlier, Paul talked about the same idea. He said, “A man reaps what he sows” (GALATIANS 6:7). He was saying that our choices often have an impact that we could never imagine. And we have to live with the consequences of our actions. His words remind us to choose wisely.

The choices we make today lead to the things we have to deal with tomorrow. It’s far better to avoid doing selfish and hurtful things in the first place, rather than to having to deal with the fall-out later.

TOMORROW IS ONE GOOD REASON FOR DOING

THE RIGHT THING TODAY.
