GETTING THROUGH

I will listen to what God the Lord says; he promises peace to his people, his
faithful servants—but let them not turn to folly (PSALM 85:8).

So many of my phone calls seem to be with robots! I phone my smartphone provider . . . and get a recorded list of options to choose from. I call another helpline and get a computerised voice telling me, “Why don’t you try finding what you need on our app . . .” I’m glad this isn’t the case with our Father in heaven. He is always there.
No options to choose, no “You’re in a queue” and no “All our operators are busy right now.” Thankfully, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know” (JEREMIAH 33:3) has not been replaced by, “All lines are now busy. Your call is important to Me. Please stay on the line.” Yet I wonder how He feels about our availability?

Talking with God is a two-way street. He speaks to us through the Bible when we prayerfully think about what it says. His Spirit in us is always ready to guide us. Jesus paid a great price to keep the lines open so that we can
be still and know that He is God (PSALM 46:10). But just how much are we making the most of our open connection with the God of the universe? Surely there can be no better thing than to know we can tell God, who is in control of everything, about even our smallest problem! The line is open. Are you making the most of it?
