Hope Is Our Plan

Hope Is Our Plan

Bible: Micah 7:1-7

Reading

But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Saviour; my God will hear me (V.7).

My football team has lost eight games in a row as I write this. With each loss, it’s harder to hope they’ll really get anything out of this season at all. The manager is making different changes every week, but they haven’t resulted in wins. Talking with my friends, I’ve joked that just wanting things to go better doesn’t mean they will. “Hope is not a plan,” I’ve said.

That’s true in football. But in our lives with God, it’s just the opposite. Not only is hope in God our plan of action, but trusting and focusing on Him is the only plan we have. This world often disappoints us, but confident hope in God’s truth and power will keep us going through tough times.

Micah understood this. He was heartbroken by how Israel had turned away from God. “What misery is mine! … The faithful have been swept from the land; not one upright person remains” (MICAH 7:1-2). But then he refocused on his true hope: “But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Saviour; my God will hear me” (V.7).

What does it take to stay confident in God during hard times? Micah shows us: watching, waiting, praying—remembering that God hears our prayers even when everything feels too much. In these times, clinging to our hope in God is our plan of action, the only plan that will help us get through life’s storms.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO HOPE IN HARD TIMES?
WATCHING. WAITING. PRAYING. REMEMBERING.
