Supporting Role
Bible: John 17:1-5

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world (LUKE 2:1)
Caesar Augustus is remembered as the first and greatest of the Roman emperors. By political skill and military power he removed his enemies, grew the empire and lifted Rome from run-down neighbourhoods into a city of marble statues and temples.
The Roman people talked about Augustus as the saviour of the human race. As his forty year reign came to an end, his official last words were, “I found Rome a city of clay but left it a city of marble.” According to his wife, however, his last words were actually, “Have I played the part well? Then applaud as I exit.”
What Augustus didn’t know is that he’d only been given a supporting role in a bigger story. During his reign, the son of a carpenter was born to do something far greater than any world leader could achieve (LUKE 2:1). He truly came to be the Saviour of the world.
Who could have predicted that His death would lead to resurrection and unending life for all who trust Him? It’s quite a story. Our God found us when we were lost and alone. He has made us part of the greatest story ever told: not our story, but His. Our supporting role in this story is to tell it!
WE HAVE SUPPORTING ROLES IN THE BIGGEST STORY THE WORLD WILL EVER KNOW.
