Ripple Effect
Bible: Philippians 1:3-11

This is my prayer: that your love may abound more … so that you may be able to discern what is best (VV.9-10).
As a kid, I loved skimming stones across a lake near my house. A good skim could lead to five or six bounces, making ripples flow across the water.
It’s like that with choices. Every choice we make creates a ripple effect in our lives as well as in the lives of others. Our choices shape who we are and what others think about us. What we really want, love and think shows up in the choices we make.
It’s no wonder then that Paul told us to make the “best” choices— choices that show we’re fully committed to Jesus. He said that when our love grows “in knowledge and depth of insight,” we are able to understand what is best, so that we may “discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ” (PHILIPPIANS 1:9-10).
Excellent choices are the proof of a life that is all about Jesus and His ways. Things like choosing to forgive when our friends are mean or choosing not to cheat in a test, even though everyone else is. And these choices will ripple into our friends and classmates’ lives “with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God” (V.11).
As a friend of mine once told me, our lives are not made by the things we dream for, but by the choices we make.
MAKE JESUS-BASED CHOICES AND WATCH THE RIPPLE EFFECT AROUND YOU.
