The Secret Is

The Secret Is

Bible: 1 Corinthians 2:6-16
Reading

“Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ (V.16).

If you believe one author, “The shortcut to anything you want in your life is to be and feel happy now!” According to them, this has to do with something called “the law of attraction”. If you think only about things that make you happy, happy things will be attracted to you …

Sounds easy enough.

However, the Bible says that the secret to life is something very different. It has to do with “the law of the Spirit who gives life” that sets us free from “the law of sin and death” (ROMANS 8:2), and it has nothing to do with the “law of attraction”.

Paul tells us that the most important thing to know is “Jesus Christ and him crucified” (1 CORINTHIANS 2:2). To everyone who is all about being happy here and now and nothing else, this message is “foolishness” (V.14). They do not understand the power of God in a story that makes no sense to them.

God created us with a need to know what is ‘secret’. In His wisdom, He kept some things hidden for a time (V.7). But now, through His Holy Spirit, He has let us in on the secret. And the secret He shares has nothing to do with having happy thoughts in order to get happy things; it has to do with knowing God and having the mind of Jesus Christ (V.16).

TO HAVE TRUE HAPPINESS, WE MUST GET TO KNOW JESUS
