Go Large

Go Large

Bible: Isaiah 6:1-10

I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple (V.1).

When buying fast food, the staff often ask something along the lines of: “Would you like to go large on that?” They’re asking the customers if they want more of what they are already getting.

In a similar way, when we spend time with God, I think He asks us: “Would you like to go large on your understanding of Me today?” Isaiah had one such experience with God. During a painful event in his life, Isaiah saw God “high and [lifted up]” (ISAIAH. 6:1). Through this meeting, God went large on Isaiah’s understanding of who He is. He saw God’s complete excellence and perfection.

God also went large on Isaiah’s realisation of his own mess (V.5). This led to a better understanding of God’s complete forgiveness and cleansing (VV.6-7). Only when Isaiah understood the depth of his sin could he really understand and accept complete forgiveness and cleansing from God. Finally, his meeting with God made Isaiah reach out to others and help them also go large on their understanding of God (VV.8-9).

Let’s ask God to go large on our understanding of His greatness today.

KNOWING ABOUT GOD IS FASCINATING; KNOWING GOD PERSONALLY IS LIFE-CHANGING.
