Do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you set up God’s dominion over the earth? (V.33) .

When bad things happen and we feel totally helpless, we’ll often shout at God: “What are you doing?” If we’ve ever had that kind of reaction to pain, then Job chapter 38 will give us plenty to think about . . .
Job suffered a lot . More than most (JOB 1:13-22) . So he had some big questions for God . But imagine what it must have felt like for Job when “out of the storm” he heard God say, “Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge? Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me” (VV.1-3) . Gulp!
Job must have felt as weak as an ant . As God listed His questions in the verses that follow, what He said was as unexpected as it was powerful . He didn’t really answer Job’s “why” questions . Instead, God seemed to be telling him to remember the power and strength with which He created this world; and to focus on His ability to control every bit of it . Job should have been asking himself, Isn’t that reason enough to trust God?
As one example of His awesome power, God pointed to the sky and told Job to look at two of His amazing creations: Pleiades and Orion (V.31) . God showed two star constellations to remind Job of a power beyond our understanding . This is Someone we can trust . If He has the stars in His hands, surely He can take care of us as well .
HE WHO HOLDS THE STARS IN SPACE HOLDS US IN HIS HANDS.
