Getting In

Bible: John 14:1-10

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life . No one comes to the Father except through me” (V.6) .

Reading

One time, when I travelled to another country, I wasn’t allowed in . There was some problem with my visa . I arrived off the plane thinking everything was fine—but I got turned away . Even though I talked to lots of different people and tried to fix the problem, in the end nothing could be done . I was placed on the next flight home .

Getting rejected from that country was a horrible experience . But it doesn’t begin to compare with the idea of getting rejected at heaven’s door . Imagine standing there and being told you’re not allowed in . Would you list all the good things you’d done as your reason to be allowed in? It would not be enough . Or what if you got your friends to speak up for you and say how nice you are? It still wouldn’t work .

Only one thing can get us into heaven . Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life . No one comes to the Father except through me” (JOHN 14:6) . Jesus, through His death and resurrection, paid the price for our sins . It’s only by knowing Him that we’re allowed into God’s home after we die . Have you trusted Jesus for yourself yet? Make sure you won’t get turned away from heaven’s door .
