Second Chances

Second Chances

Bible: Ruth 4:13-17

He has not stopped showing his kindness (RUTH 2:20).

“How can you be so kind if you don’t even know me!” Through some bad choices Linda had ended up in jail in another country. She stayed in that prison for six years. When she was finally set free, she didn’t have anywhere to go. She thought her life was over! While her family found the money to buy her a ticket home, a kind couple gave her a room in their house and looked after her. Linda was so thankful for their kindness that she willingly listened as they told her the good news of a God who loved her and wanted to give her a second chance.

Linda reminds me of Naomi, a widow in the Bible who lost her husband and two sons in a foreign land. She also thought her life was over (RUTH 1). But God hadn’t forgotten Naomi. Through the love of her daughter-in-law and the kindness of a godly man named Boaz, Naomi saw God’s love and was given a second chance (4:13-17).

The same God cares for us today. When others look out for us, we can be reminded that God is behind it all, loving us and making sure we have what we need. We can see God’s love in the helping hand of people we may not even know that well. But above all, God gives us a fresh start. We just need, like Linda and Naomi, to see God in our everyday lives and realise He never stops showing us His kindness.

What I’m Thankful for…

Father, thank You that You let us begin again and again.

GOD GIVES US SECOND CHANCES.
