Who is This?

Who is this?

Bible: Luke 19:28-40

Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! (V.38).

Imagine standing shoulder to shoulder with others by a dirt road. The woman behind you is on her tiptoes, trying to see who is coming. In the distance you see a man riding a donkey. As He comes near, people throw their coats onto the road. Suddenly, you hear a tree crack behind you. A man is cutting down palm branches, and people are spreading them out ahead of the donkey.

Jesus’ followers cheered and honoured Him as He entered Jerusalem a few days before His death on the cross. The crowd rejoiced and praised God for “all the miracles they had seen” (LUKE 19:37). Many surrounded Him, calling out, “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” (V.38). Their enthusiasm rippled throughout all Jerusalem. When Jesus finally
arrived, “the whole city was stirred and asked, ‘Who is this?’ ” (MATT. 21:10).

Today, people are still curious about Jesus. Although we can’t line His way with palm branches or shout praises to Him in person, we can still make Him known. We can talk about all that He did, treat others with His love, pray for those who insult us and trust Him in everything we go through. Then we must be ready to answer anyone who asks us, “Who is Jesus?”
