Waiting Place

Waiting Place

Bible: Psalm 70

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him (PSALM 37:7).

So much of life is about waiting, but God is never in a hurry—or so it seems. “God has His hour planned” is an old saying. And so we just have to wait for Him. Waiting is hard. We flick through messages on our phones, tap our feet, hold back yawns, sigh and get more and more stressed. Why do I have deal with that person at school, that exam, that family problem, that illness? Why
won’t they go away? Why doesn’t God turn up and make it better? God’s answer: “Wait and see what I will do.”

Waiting is one of life’s best teachers. While we wait we learn the importance of … well, waiting—waiting while God works in us and for us. It’s in waiting that we grow in endurance, which means being able to trust God’s love and goodness, even when things aren’t going our way (PS. 70:5).
But waiting should not be boring, anxious or full of doubt. We can “rejoice and be glad in [Him]” while we wait (V.4). We wait in confidence, knowing that God will step in and give us what we need at just the right time. God is never in a hurry, but He’s always on time.

What I’m thankful for . . .

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promises and for being with us. Help me to make the most of my times of waiting, knowing that You are always teaching me something important about You.

GOD IS WITH US IN OUR WAITING.
