Get Rid of Hurry

Get Rid of Hurry

Bible: Isaiah 26:1-4

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you (V.3)

“Get rid of hurry.” When two different friends said that to me, I knew I needed to take a step back and slow down. Where was I wasting time and energy? Where was I rushing ahead and not asking God what I should be doing? In the weeks and months that followed, I made more effort to slow down each day and take time talking with God first. I reminded myself to trust in Him, rather than just doing everything myself.

After all, rushing around and being busy all the time seems to be the opposite of the “perfect peace” Isaiah tells us about. God gives this gift of peace to “those whose minds are steadfast” because they trust in Him (V.3). And He is worthy of being trusted today, tomorrow and forever, for “the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal” (V.4). Trusting God with our minds fixed on Him is the answer to frantic, stressful living.

How about us? Are we always too busy for God? Or do we know what it is to find our peace with Him each day? Wherever we are, I pray today that we’ll be able to put aside any busyness as we trust the Lord, who will never fail us and who gives us His peace.

What I’m thankful for . . .

Father, You give the peace that passes all understanding, which is a gift I don’t want to take for granted. Thank You.

GOD’S PEACE HELPS US NOT TO HURRY.
